( oh no. more panic. gentaro blinks and he realizes belatedly he’s probably not reacting with as much enthusiasm as dice deserves.

he makes sure the ring is completely on before he curls his arms possessively around his now fiancé’s shoulders, bumping their foreheads up against each other’s. )

[That gesture soothes the sudden nerves, and Dice closes his eyes.]

Gentaro... I knew you'd change me the day we met. I knew you'd make me stronger, better in every way, just by bein' my friend. The first time I kissed you, I knew I wanted more. More and more, and I felt selfish about it, and I was scared when things went weird. I'm workin' hard every day to make sure I don't mess up again.

[A breath.]

I wanna be with you forever. I wanna rap with you, I wanna create worlds with you. I wanna marry you. So how about it?

( he can’t help himself. he kisses his nose, his cheek, his jaw. )

You never messed up. Never.

( he kisses him hard, then, hand scrambling to find dice’s to thread them tightly together. )

I will. I don’t ever intend on loving anyone but you for the rest of my life.

( he may be a liar, but with the shaky way he breathes, speaks, it’s clear the truth just leaves him breathless. )

[Dice feels it, the way Gentaro shakes and sighs and gives himself over, like he so often does. He's never gonna have anyone else, and the thought doesn't bother him one bit.]

I don't want anybody else, either. You're as good as it gets, and I got you.

[The box is discarded on the open part of the table, and Dice grips Gentaro's hand tightly.]

I'm never lettin' you go.

( he keeps dice close, the warmth insanely comforting. he loves him. by god he loves him. he’s actually doing this, found this, is capable of this. )

My pretty Dice.

( his free hand plays with the ends of his hair and he leans up to ghost their lips together once more. )

My pretty fiancé. ( he is still shaking, of course. )

[This is a life Dice never even entertained having. He's standing here like an honest man with an honest job and someone he loves to come home to... it's weird. But it's the best.]

Whoa, that sounds wild. And you're the pretty one, you know.

( god, he wants to climb you like a tree, dice. he’s so emotional right now and it’s a war between his heart, mind and dick. remarkable how one singular person can do so many terribly wonderful things to him by just existing. )

You do know that now I have to propose to you as well.

( there’s a mischievous look in his eyes as he nudges their noses together. )

To give you your ring, of course. It’s only fair. ( that’s not how it works but ok gentaro. )

Oh, yeah? I'm lookin' forward to it, then!

[Dice moves his head slightly to press a fleeting kiss to the tip of Gentaro's nose, then settles their foreheads back together.]

( he won’t cry. he refuses to cry. he’s used up so many tears in his life he isn’t even sure he’s capable of it anymore. )

( he’s so very quiet when he says this next piece: )

I’ve liked you since you fought that host. Certainly not enough to risk messing with the team dynamics during the battle season, however...

[He can feel his face heating up a little, and his voice drops to a mumble.]

I didn't figure it out 'til I kissed you. [Louder:] Man, I really don't have my shit together sometimes!

( he tips his head to capture dice’s lips, slow and warm and forceful. )

Keep talking like that and you’ll ruin the mood.

[He runs fingers along Gentaro's jaw, kissing him back just the same way, slow, deliberate. A statement.]

'm all yours now.

Yes. You are. Forever, evidently.

( but he says it with a twist of a smile and who can hardly blame him if he shifts back against the kitchen wall, tugging dice close to kiss him harder. he probably isn’t angling to hook up when dice went to all this trouble to make dinner, but... he does want something. he just against all odds got engaged. )
